Rooted & Rising: Oakhouse Church’s Heartbeat

6/23/2025

Oakhouse Church in Mission Viejo has experienced remarkable growth since its evolution from the Rock Harbor South County Campus in 2009 to becoming its own entity in 2022. Starting with about 200 members and sharing the same people and elders as Rock Harbor, the church adopted a new name and moved to a larger location to accommodate its growing family—now numbering around 400. This steady numerical increase reflects more than just a headcount; it marks the beginning of a fresh chapter marked by intentional community and renewed purpose.

Beyond the numbers, Oakhouse has witnessed a deepening of personal and spiritual lives. Members in their 20s have begun inviting friends to engage in the church’s vibrant small groups, leading some to embrace a renewed relationship with Jesus. In one touching example, a young woman’s invitation to a coworker resulted in her coworker’s baptism and public testimony. Similarly, a young couple experienced transformation when the husband, initially skeptical of faith, encountered God through worship in their home. These individual stories illustrate how the church’s focus on spiritual hunger and meaningful connection is redefining what growth looks like.

At its heart, Oakhouse Church champions a holistic approach to building community—one that values both the celebration of new beginnings and the compassionate navigation of departures. Whether through welcome events that integrate newcomers with discussions about their spiritual journeys or through heartfelt support during times of loss and transition, the church has become a place where conflicts are resolved with care and every member’s story matters. This culture of open communication, respect, and genuine care fosters not just a larger congregation, but a thriving, interconnected community seeking to grow together in Christ.
